Jonathan Petromelis

Jonathan is recently the former President and CEO of Amesbury. Amesbury is a $350m North American division of Tyman, PLC, a publicly quoted business on the main market of the London Stock Exchange. Jonathan was responsible for the North American Operations of Amesbury consisting of 13 locations in the US, Mexico, Canada and China with over 2,000 employees involved in the manufacture and distribution of components used in the window and door industry. Amesbury’s manufacturing capabilities include injection molding, zinc die-casting, stamping, metal fabrication, various forms of extrusion, textile, assembly, in-house tooling and an extensive Asian supply chain. The executive management team included 7 corporate VP’s throughout the US including a Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer and SVP of Human Resources.
Jonathan joined Amesbury in 1996 as Chief Financial Officer. In 2000 Jonathan left to join iBasis, Inc., a public company trading on NASDAQ. Jonathan returned to Amesbury in 2002 as Senior Vice President in charge of Business Development and Chief Financial Officer. In 2008 Jonathan took over as President and CEO until February 2014.
During the 16 years of Jonathan’s leadership, Amesbury grew from $40m in revenue to over $350m. This was accomplished by 13 acquisitions and strong organic growth through key investments. During the downturn in the housing industry Amesbury focused on cost reduction, closing 4 facilities and managing working capital effectively, all while making strategic investments in engineering, product development and growth-oriented opportunities. This enabled Amesbury to keep a strong focus on the future while others in the industry were trying to survive. Amesbury is now the market leader in the window and door industry, financially strong, with a product portfolio that is unrivaled.
During the years 2000 to 2002 Jonathan held the position of Vice President of Finance at iBasis, Inc., a telecom company and early pioneer of VOIP. Jonathan was responsible for the worldwide finance organization of this 500 employee business with headquarters in Massachusetts. In his time there he led a $125m acquisition of a business specializing in speech recognition while being a key contributor to managing the exponential growth experienced.
Prior to joining Amesbury Jonathan spent 10 years in public accounting with BDO in New York and Boston as a CPA focused on IPO’s, acquisitions, audits and other client service work.
In 29 years of experience Jonathan has been able to successfully lead businesses through exponential growth as well as through more difficult times with a key vision that has enabled leading market success. Specifically in the window and door industry, Jonathan has been able to separate Amesbury from its competition and has established long-term relationships with the leading OEMs, namely Andersen, Marvin, Pella and Jeldwen.
Jonathan is a graduate of the University of Buffalo (SUNY) where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy. He is a registered CPA in Massachusetts and New York.
